Empty Plates Remain the Reality of APC’s Trade Numbers Today.

Just recently, the APC-led Federal Government celebrated a massive Second Quarter, Q2 2026 merchandise trade figure of over ₦41 trillion. They boasted a trade surplus of ₦12.59 trillion, driven by ₦27 trillion in exports against ₦14.4 trillion in imports. Yet, paper numbers cannot buy yam or pay school fees. Market women and commercial bike riders are still sweating on the roads while the rulers celebrate statistics that do not fill empty pots. Exporting everything while citizens starve at home is just grammar for the rich; nothing more.

If the books are checked well, it will be discovered that the so-called surplus comes from high commodity values and swollen import costs pushed up by a ruined Naira, and not real factory production. When a country such as ours continues to export raw materials and import basic needs at crazy rates, the arithmetic naturally looks heavy on paper, but the common man’s stomach remains completely empty.

The Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi is a grounded trader who understands the economics better. Hence, as Nigeria’s president, he would have turned those numbers into real factory jobs and local production. Under the Obi-Kwankwaso government, Nigeria would export finished goods made by our energetic youths, crash runaway inflation, and put money directly into the pockets of ordinary citizens. They will not be celebrating paper wealth or doing empty bragging. Vote for Nigeria’s transformation from consumption to production!
