Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, has urged Northern leaders to stop blaming President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the insecurity affecting the region and instead take responsibility for finding lasting solutions.
Speaking at an engagement with APC stakeholders in Yola on Thursday, Fintiri questioned why some Northerners repeatedly blame Southern presidents whenever insecurity worsens in the North.

According to the governor, Boko Haram insurgents are largely from the region, and Northern leaders should confront what he described as leadership failures instead of shifting the blame to the President.
«“We, as leaders from the North, should stop running away from our problems and blaming others for our failures,” Fintiri said.»

He also recalled that former President Goodluck Jonathan faced similar accusations during the Boko Haram crisis.
Fintiri said he did not believe Tinubu had short-changed Northern Nigeria, adding that he had no reason to accuse the President of deliberately disadvantaging his home area of Madagali.
On the economy, the governor expressed support for Tinubu’s economic policies, saying he believes the administration has made progress in strengthening the Nigerian economy.

As the country moves toward the 2027 general elections, Fintiri urged APC stakeholders to return to their local government areas, wards and polling units to mobilise support.
He also issued a strong warning against electoral manipulation in Adamawa:
“I swear by Almighty Allah that no person born of a woman will come to Adamawa and rig us out,” he declared.
The governor further dismissed the political strength of the PDP and ADC in Adamawa and expressed confidence that the APC would win across the ballot in 2027.
